Swapnil Shah graduated from department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering in Spring 2002. He also has a B. E (ME) in 1998 from the Pune University, India. Project title: Comparison of Software Tools to Enable Enterprise Engineering . ( 2002) AbstractThe purpose of the study is to compare the various Enterprise Engineering software tools. The paper gives an overview to the concepts used in Enterprise Engineering. It discusses various Enterprise Modeling methods that are widely being used. An overview to different enterprise modeling software tools available in the market today is presented. The main software tools that are under study for this paper are AlDWIN, ProSim, Metasoftware, Wizdom and ARIS. These tools are widely used to model IDEF and ARIS modeling methods. A literature review was done to develop a methodology for comparing the tools. Activity and process models were created based on a real case study. The author reader cycle was used before the models were approved. These models were implemented in all the software tools to check the behavior of the software tools. Using the literature review, seven categories were used for comparison of the tools. Each of these seven categories contained attributes, which were the main basis of comparison. This comparison was subjective. Multi attribute decision-making process was used to assign weights to the attributes so as to aid in comparison and determine the final weights for each software tool. These weights were used in quantitative ranking. Thus comparison was carried out subjectively and quantitatively. The results of Multi attribute decision-making process showed that the ARIS software was the best among all the software tools used while AI0WIN was the last among all. Even though these numbers show the rankings of software tools, each software tool has its own benefits and use.
